Starting with the summer semester 2027, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) will introduce tuition fees for newly enrolled international students from non-EU/non-EEA countries. This regulation also applies to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Medical Engineering. Students who are already enrolled in their current study program at FAU before the summer semester 2027 will not be affected by this change.
The tuition fees apply to international students who enroll at FAU for the first time, are citizens of a non-EU/non-EEA country, and do not hold a German higher education entrance qualification. In addition, several legal exemptions and equivalent statuses apply, meaning that some students may not be required to pay tuition fees. The tuition fees amount to €4,000 per semester for the master’s program in Medical Engineering. These tuition fees are charged in addition to the regular semester contribution.
By introducing tuition fees, FAU aims to maintain the high quality of teaching and learning while further enhancing support services for international students. The additional revenue will be invested in services such as academic advising, student support, German language courses, and other measures designed to improve the overall study experience for international students.
