According to Stanford University, more than 200 researchers at Friedrich Alexander University are among the top 2 percent of the most cited scientists worldwide. This was evaluated with the help of the “Stanford List,” which is managed by researchers at the university of the same name, and the Scopus database the largest abstract and citation database for peer-reviewed literature from the publisher Elsevier.

A total of 190,000 researchers are among the most cited two percent worldwide, including 209 from FAU. The Medical Engineering departments in particular excelled in this evaluation, securing 29 places: 10 in Biomedical Research, 8 in Engineering and 11 in Information & Communication Technologies.

Our study program is particularly pleased about the outstanding rankings of Prof. Aldo Boccaccini and Prof. Andreas Maier. Prof. Boccaccini is significantly involved in teaching in our field of study Med. Device Engineering, Production Technology and Prosthetics and reaches rank 32 on the Stanfort List. Prof. Maier, Chair of Pattern Recognition and a leader in teaching Med. Imaging and Data Processing, climbs to rank 511 in Nuclear Medicine & Medical Imaging. We are proud that our students can benefit from this cutting-edge research in the lecture hall.

Congratulations!
